From our bench

Screwing two boards together without splitting the grain takes a pilot hole and a seat for the head. We put tapered steel bits, matching countersink cones, and wood plug cutters in one carry case. You supply the cordless drill and the wood glue.

Pilots and seats combined

The tapered bit clears a path for the screw threads while the cone behind it carves a pocket for the head. One squeeze of the drill trigger handles both jobs before you reach for the fastener.

Cutting matching wood plugs

Two barrel plug cutters bore round wood plugs out of scrap lumber from the same board. Tap the plug over the buried screw head, let the glue dry, and pare it level with a sharp bench chisel.

Quick change hex shanks

Each shank snaps into a standard drill chuck or quick-change adapter without slipping under load. The case holds an extension bit shaft, driver bits, and the small hex wrench needed to adjust depth collars along the flutes.

Lumber and furniture stock

These high speed steel edges bite into common pine framing, knotty plywood, and dense hardwood boards without wandering off your center mark. Clean the chips out of the flutes between deep holes to keep the steel cutting true.
