A knot tied in a hurry is the knot that slips at highway speed. Each of these units carries its own braided nylon line on an aluminum cam, so you thread it, haul by hand, and the cam holds that tension until your thumb lets go.
Thread the line through, haul it tight by hand, and the cam locks on the rope wherever you stopped. Letting go is a thumb on the lever, which beats picking at a knot that sat under load in the rain.
Each unit arrives with braided nylon wound onto the body, long enough to span a truck bed or a woodpile and short enough to stow without a tangle. Three of them pull down all the corners of a tarp.
The cam and its frame are aluminum rather than moulded plastic, rated well past what a tarp or a kayak hull asks of them, and the line holds its tension instead of stretching out of the grip.
Tarps over firewood, a canoe on a roof rack, a bike standing in a truck bed, a washing line strung at a campsite. They go back on the shelf wound up and ready for whatever loads up next.
Different shelves, same Saturday. These hang elsewhere on our wall but clock in on the same jobs as this one.
